The first round of regional competitions for the Wallie Askew
Memorial Workskills Competition was held at the Southern Institute
of Technology in Christchurch on Wednesday 11th March.
Mark van der Meys, Ben Church, Toby Burrows and Jono Couchman
all completed a practical challenge and theory test which spanned
up to 3 hours on the night. They were cheered on by past
competitors and ex-apprentices.
All competitors' scores go into a national database with the top
scorers overall gaining a place in the national final which will be
held in May at the IRHACE conference in Christchurch.
The next regional competition is on Wednesday 8th April in
Wellington.
